In moments of conflict, the Tent Makers create spaces for dialogue and peace, embodying vision, craftsmanship, and a deep understanding of sacred geometry.
When the shadow is engaged, the Tent Makers may focus too much on the physical structure, neglecting the spiritual purpose behind it.
Jon Allen and Keith Critchlow were instrumental in the design of St Ethelburga’s Bedouin Tent, a symbol of reconciliation that fosters dialogue and unity. The tent reflects sacred geometry, creating a space where all perspectives are welcomed equally, bridging divides between faiths and cultures.
“It is very interesting that when you are sitting in the tent, isolated, you are not in a cave, and you can still hear the noises of the city all around. You are here, inside this sort of capsule, but you are still part of the space around and of the city. This is part of the reconciliation, as we have to reconcile the light that we have inside us with the darkness inside us and all around us. We cannot escape it, and we must reconcile these two extremes.” - Jon Allen
