A message from our perfomers: “This special performance of Classical Persian music is entitled, ‘Clouds come towards you’.  It is a tribute to the people of Iran, as a symbol of our heartfelt compassion and anguish in these turbulent times.”

Shahab Azinmehr, Setar and vocalist

Born in 1985, Tehran, Shahab Azinmehr has a Bachelor’s degree in Restoration of Historical Monuments and a Master’s in Persian Music Performance. He entered the realm of music through singing, and later began learning to play the tär and setar. Mohammad Musavi, Dariush Talä’i, Mas’ud Sho’âri, Behruz Hemmati and Rezà Parvizzade were some of the masters he studied with.  He has performed in several festivals, concerts and albums as an accompanying instrumentalist and vocalist.  He is a member of Orpheus XXI ensemble under the supervision of Maestro Jordi Savall.

Fariborz Kiani, percussion

Is a UK-based Iranian percussionist. He studies tombak with Morteza Ayan, one of Iran’s leading tombak maestros and daf frame drum with Iran’s legendary daf maestro Bijan Kamkar. Fariborz has performed extensively with the finest Iranian master musicians around the world.  Fariborz is the founder of Nava Arts UK, the leading promoter of classical Persian music of the highest standards in the UK.

‘Listen to the World’ is a place of live music where the traditions and talents of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers find a home among local artists.  Come and join us, as either a listener or performer, everyone is welcome.
