Dvi Doli is made up of classically trained, professional musicians Julia Kogut-Kalynyuk and Kateryna Trachuk from Lviv, Ukraine. Music has always been a huge part of the duo’s life. They began playing the bandura at the ages of 5 and 9, and then obtained Master’s degrees in bandura and voice at Lviv National Music Academy, named after Mykola Lysenko, Ukraine’s leading musical conservatory. The Bandura is a stringed instrument and combines elements of the zither and the lute. It is Ukraine’s national folk instrument.
Dvi Doli have toured in Poland, the Netherlands, Germany, Canada, and Spain and arrived in Oxford in May 2022. They look forward to sharing their love for Ukrainian traditional folk music with audiences.
‘Listen to the World’ is a place of live music where the traditions and talents of migrants, refugees and asylum seekers find a home among local artists. Come and join us, as either a listener or performer, everyone is welcome.
