St Ethelburga’s Day – Drawing hope from history

18:00 - 19:30
Oct 12th 2020

Once a year, we join as a community to celebrate St Ethelburga’s Feast Day. We warmly invite you to join us online for a special evening of celebration and inspiration with the Bishop of London, Dame Sarah Mullally.

For more information contact us.

Every October we celebrate the feast of St Ethelburga – the first Abbess of England for whom we are named after. During the 6th Century, St Ethelburga is recorded to have been “upright in life and constantly planning for the needs of her community”. She in fact died in service to her community when she opened the doors of  her monastery to care for people in crisis who were suffering with the plague of that time.

Her life of courage and service has much to inspire us as we navigate our own crisis and seek to remain resilient in the face of constant changes and challenges. We warmly invite you to join us online for a special inter-faith community celebration including music from the choir of St Botolph’s and a message of encouragement from the Bishop of London – The Rt Revd and Rt Hon Dame Sarah Mullally DBE.

All are welcome. Fore more information, email

Rebecca Brierley is inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
