How can we grow a shared resilience that heals social wounds and elevates our spirits, calling out the best in us? Join us early in the new year to journey through the 4 stages of St Ethelburga's unique resilience model. With 4 taught evening sessions on zoom and prompts for solo enquiry and reflection in between.
With news of a vaccine on the horizon, a new president in the US, and a further stage in the Brexit process underway, the winds of change are blowing through the early months of the new year. Underneath all of this, the reality of climate breakdown, alongside ever-growing divides of political polarisation and social inequality, are powerful currents that are carrying us into ever more perilous times. How can we even find our feet in a time like this? Let alone respond to the pressing need of the time, as many of us feel a deep longing to do?
There is an old saying that horses who run together quicken each other’s pace. This retreat aims to quicken our shared aspiration to meet troubling times with the best that is in us, seeking strength in our most cherished values. We see a crucial link between the inner work of resilience and the practical outer action needed to bring about social healing and planetary repair.
This course distills some of the core principles in our resilient leadership programmes into an accessible format.
St Ethelburga’s offers a four-stage model of resilience. We start with rooting into our deepest values. Then we use the light of those values to illuminate the truth of our times, in all its grief, complexity and paradox. From there, we grow the courage we need to respond from the heart. Finally we invoke visionary imagination, sensing into future possibilities that hold a promise of renewal.
This taught part of this programme includes 4 evening sessions on zoom (GMT). Each session will give space for small group discussion, solo reflection time, practical exercises, and ritual. In between sessions we will provide exercises and reflective prompts to deepen your exploration of the theme. There will also be a chance to connect with others on the course and to grow a network of people who share your interests.
