Presence: Poetry & Acoustic Night with Open Mic
Join us for the launch of a monthly poetry & live music event where spirituality, creativity and social change meet through the arts.
Hosted in a sacred space in the heart of the city we welcome you to gather with us as we use spoken word, song, storytelling and live art to share and connect with each other.
Each month we will use the space to explore meaningful themes and use our creativity to respond. This months theme we will explore the earth, our relationship to it and our response to the conversations around the climate.
There will be an open mic space and performers are welcome to respond to the theme or share whatever is in their hearts. This is your space.
If you are a performance artist, your voice and words are welcome here, if you just want to be present in the audience then bring an open heart and if you are interested in gaining the confidence and skills to write then join our writing workshops that will take place every month.
Poetry Writing Workshop 4-6pm (optional)
Each month before the Open Mic night there will be a poetry writing workshop led by Sukina Pilgrim where we will do various writing exercises to engage with the themes of the night. The workshops are for those who want to join in the creative conversation but don’t have poems that address the subject or for those who are seasoned writers who want explore and expand on their creativity in a safe space.
