Presence is a music and poetry open mic event where themes of home, belonging and community meet through the arts. This is a place for all, whether you were born here or arrived yesterday; whether you are in the UK or somewhere else in the world, our Common Home – Welcome!
For each event we explore a different theme chosen with guests at the previous event. Tonight’s theme is ‘Celebration’. What or who would you like to celebrate? Bring your songs, poetry and spoken words to share with us. Join us as a performer or come and listen as a member of the audience. The vibe is friendly, informal and inclusive. Put on the kettle or open a bottle and come join us online.
Performance start time (GMT): 6.30pm, join Zoom anytime from 6.20pm for an Open Mic spot. You will be sent a zoom link during the afternoon before the event.
Theme: Chosen by guests at our last event, the theme for this evening is ‘Celebration’.
OPEN MIC HOSTS
Sophie Besse, playwright and founder of theatre of Sanctuary PSYCHEdelight and Together Workshops, and Ibrahim Fanous, (left) Sudanese musician and singer. Organiser: For all questions about the Open Mic event, including performing and performers, please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
NEW TO OPEN MIC?
An Open Mic event is a live show – currently online – where members of the audience can perform. You do not need to be a professional artist; you may be performing for the first time, or performing music and song from you own country and traditions. At each event there are 10 Open Mic slots where artists can perform for 3-5mins. To perform in an Open Mic slot join the Zoom event link at 6.20pm and write your name in the Chat Box
