Meet the Chef

My name is Woin, born and raised in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia and moved to London in the early 90’s. I enjoy cooking and eating in the company of friends and family whilst being part of the diverse community which London offers. London provides the opportunity to learn and explore many other culture and cuisines. About a year and half ago, I joined Migrateful and my involvement has enabled me follow my passion and encouraged me set up my own vegan catering business.

What to expect

This is a family style cookery class where the group collectively prepares several dishes. The chef will divide the class into groups with each one responsible for creating 1 or 2 of the dishes. Each participant is free to move from one recipe to the next throughout the evening so that everyone can get a sense for all of the dishes being prepared. Our classes appeal to those interested in learning international recipes, practising a different language and in meeting new people for a cultural exchange in an intimate setting, as well as to those wishing to support migrants and refugees struggling to rebuild their lives.

The ticket price covers the cost of ingredients and a donation to support the innovative work of Migrateful.  £38.32 (booking fee included) sold by  Migrateful through Eventbrite.  Book soon to avoid disappointment!

If this class is fully booked – join us for the next one!   Each month Migrateful chefs will be bringing their traditional cuisine and teaching a new class at St Ethelburga’s.

About Migrateful

Migrateful helps refugees, asylum seekers and vulnerable migrants on their journey to employment and independence and promotes integration. It runs cookery classes led by migrant chefs struggling to integrate and access employment due to legal and linguistic barriers. The cookery classes provide ideal conditions not just for learning English and building confidence, but also for promoting contact and cultural exchange with the wider community.
