Listen to the World Presents:
A Singing Afternoon with Camilo Menjura: 'The Art of Ubuntu'
St Ethelburga's, Saturday 21 January, 13:30-18:00
Sing in the new year!
Join us for an afternoon of singing in three part harmony! We will learn and record a new brand piece composed for “The “Art of Ubuntu”, a documentary currently in production which is using puppetry, art and music to shine a light on stories of love, peace, healing and forgiveness from Palestine, Syria, Ireland, USA and England.
Ubuntu is a traditional South African word which emphasises our common humanity and our connectedness and interdependence as fellow human beings, so an original song has been created to capture the beauty and spirit of Ubuntu.
The idea is to start the film with this song and it will then be animated with a shadow puppetry piece which will run through the film. The song will be used to close the film as well.
HOW TO RESERVE A PLACE:
This event is free and open to all. Please send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org , confirming that you would like to save a place to attend the event. Then the music score and a couple of guide audio files will be sent to every participant, to have a sense of the piece before the day. No need to learn it by heart, but it would help to have a general idea of it.
St Ethelburga’s is a ‘maker of peace-makers’. We inspire and equip individuals and communities to contribute, in their own particular contexts, to activating a global culture of peace.
